Pasqal, a neutral atom quantum computing company, and LG Electronics have announced a strategic partnership under which LG Electronics will take an equity investment in Pasqal. The collaboration is intended to advance quantum computing toward industrial applications and accelerate the industrialization of quantum hardware.
The partnership focuses on two key areas of joint R&D: quantum algorithms and core hardware technologies. The companies will co-develop quantum algorithms to address LG’s industrial challenges, including multiphysics simulation, optimization, and material discovery. Concurrently, they will jointly explore collaboration opportunities in enabling technologies for neutral atom quantum computing infrastructure, such as optical and electronic components and modules.
This strategic convergence of quantum science and industrial expertise immediately preceded a major expansion into South Korea. Pasqal announced a commitment of $52 million in the country, supported by the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Seoul Metropolitan Government under the Foreign Investment Promotion (FIP) Act. The Korean expansion is further fueled by strategic equity investments from LG Electronics and Dunamu & Partners, the investment arm of Upbit.
The Korean initiative is intended to accelerate the adoption of quantum computing across the Asia-Pacific region. Pasqal will deploy its neutral atom Quantum Processing Unit (QPU) in Seoul, create more than 50 highly skilled jobs, and advance R&D of quantum algorithms and industry-ready applications. This rapid expansion reinforces Pasqal’s global strategy to build a worldwide network of local R&D hubs, leveraging government support and strong corporate partnerships to lead the quantum value chain.
Pasqal’s neutral atom quantum computers use individual atoms trapped by laser light and operate at room temperature. Loïc Henriet, CEO of Pasqal, noted that the partnership with LG Electronics will accelerate the deployment of industry-ready applications, positioning both companies as leaders across the quantum computing value chain.
