
QuamCore, a deep-tech startup, has announced a $26 million Series A funding round, bringing its total funding to $35 million. The round was led by Sentinel Global, with participation from Arkin Capital and existing investors including Viola Ventures, Earth & Beyond Ventures, and Surround Ventures. This total funding includes a $4 million non-dilutive grant from the Israel Innovation Authority.
QuamCore has developed a fully designed and simulated architecture intended to scale a superconducting quantum computer to 1 million qubits within a single cryostat. The innovation involves tightly integrating superconducting digital control logic directly into the cryostat. This approach is designed to reduce the cabling burden and eliminate a thermal bottleneck that limits current superconducting systems to approximately 5,000 qubits per cryostat. The architecture also includes built-in error correction, a feature for achieving fault-tolerant quantum computing. With this funding, the company plans to move from design to fabrication of its first-generation processors and establish a dedicated quantum lab.
The development of this architecture is intended to address the scalability challenges of superconducting quantum systems by increasing qubit density. QuamCore’s approach aims to change the economics of quantum computing by reducing the need for multi-cryostat infrastructure. The company’s focus is on reaching a qubit count that can support real-world applications in areas such as drug discovery, advanced materials, AI, and energy.
