Quantum Brilliance has been selected by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s foreign business subsidy program, becoming the first Australian company to receive this support. The program, backed by Kiraboshi Bank, provides funding for international firms establishing operations in Tokyo. Quantum Brilliance will use the subsidy to launch its Japanese subsidiary—Quantum Brilliance Japan K.K.—covering office space, hiring, and local operational costs. The move was facilitated by Austrade’s Tokyo office.
The company specializes in diamond-based quantum devices that operate at room temperature and can be miniaturized for edge and on-premises deployment. Unlike superconducting systems that require cryogenics, Quantum Brilliance’s architecture is portable, resilient, and integrates with classical computing environments. This approach aligns with Japan’s emphasis on quantum as a strategic technology and its interest in practical, scalable quantum systems for industrial use.
The Tokyo government’s support signals growing interest in differentiated quantum modalities and practical applications. Quantum Brilliance’s systems could appeal to Japan’s automotive, aerospace, telecom, and healthcare sectors. Through the program, the company expects to benefit from local business introductions, event support, and enhanced talent recruitment, helping establish its role in Japan’s emerging quantum ecosystem.
