Quantum eMotion Corp. (QeM), Energy Plug Technologies Corp., and Malahat Battery Technology Corp. (MBT) have signed a Joint Development Agreement to co-develop and commercialize quantum-secured energy storage and defense systems for critical infrastructure. The partnership is intended to integrate QeM’s patented technologies with Energy Plug’s and MBT’s advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Energy Management Platforms (EMS/PMS).
This collaboration aims to deliver cyber-resilient, quantum-safe power systems for a range of applications, including Arctic defense installations, remote military bases, and utility-scale smart grids. MBT, an Indigenous-led enterprise, will play a role in system development and manufacturing. The partners are also advancing a NATO-aligned defense initiative under shared Canadian cybersecurity frameworks.
The integrated systems will establish a quantum-resilient security layer spanning embedded hardware, edge devices, and cloud infrastructure. QeM’s contribution is its QRNG2 chip, which is based on electron-tunnelling quantum effects and delivers true randomness at the hardware level. The partnership is positioned to enable one of the first operationalizations of quantum-grade cybersecurity in the energy technology sector.
