Rydberg Technologies Inc., a U.S.-based company specializing in quantum sensing, has announced the launch of Rydberg Photonics GmbH in Berlin, Germany. The new company is a spin-off from the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut (FBH) and is dedicated to delivering micro-integrated photonic engines designed to power the global quantum technology ecosystem.
Rydberg Photonics will combine micro-integrated photonics innovation from the FBH with advanced quantum system development from Rydberg Technologies. The company’s initial offerings will include compact and turnkey optical frequency references and hybrid integrated narrow-linewidth, high-power lasers. These components are essential building blocks for quantum sensors, clocks, communications, and computing networks. The company is building on over a decade of FBH research, specifically leveraging FBH’s unique hybrid micro-integration technology for producing compact and robust photonic modules.
The two companies will operate as strategic partners, linking German photonics engineering expertise with U.S. system development to deliver field-ready quantum and advanced photonic solutions at scale. Dr. David A. Anderson, CEO of Rydberg Technologies and co-founder of Rydberg Photonics, noted that the collaboration will accelerate global deployment across industrial, scientific, and commercial markets.
