Sejong Special Self-Governing City and the Korea Quantum Industry Association (KQIA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaboratively develop the quantum industry ecosystem. The partnership aims to solidify Sejong City’s goal to serve as the nation’s “hub city for the quantum industry” and quicken the commercialization of associated technology.

The collaboration is a key part of South Korea’s national commitment to the quantum economy, leveraging the city’s status as an administrative center and its proximity to research institutions like KAIST. Under the MOU, Sejong City plans to establish a cloud-based “Quantum Algorithm Demonstration and Commercialization Platform.” This infrastructure is intended to provide an environment where quantum technology companies can conduct research and demonstrations, supporting startup assistance and business attraction.

The agreement covers several extensive areas: planning projects to foster the quantum industry, exchanging research and technology for demonstration and commercialization, and encouraging the development of specialist expertise. The ultimate strategic objective is to establish Sejong City as a global leader in quantum science and technology. The broader partnership also includes KAIST and QuEra Computing in joint efforts to build infrastructure and educational initiatives.
