The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the applied research arm of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), has announced the launch of Manarat, a new custom-developed control electronics platform for quantum computing. The platform is intended to provide precise control over the quantum bits (qubits) that form the heart of these machines.
The Manarat platform is engineered to synchronize multiple electronic boards with an accuracy of better than 100 picoseconds, a capability considered essential for complex quantum operations. The system has demonstrated the ability to control 10 qubits with high accuracy and is said to be at least five times more cost-efficient than commercially available alternatives.
The launch is a foundational moment in TII’s long-term strategy to deliver a full-stack quantum computing platform spanning hardware, control electronics, software, and applications. The initiative underscores Abu Dhabi’s commitment to establishing sovereign capabilities in critical emerging technologies, with the platform’s cost-efficiency intended to enable faster experimentation and broader access to advanced quantum capabilities.
