Welinq and QphoX have announced a partnership to create optical quantum interconnects for superconducting quantum computers, enabling the connection of multiple quantum processors into scalable clusters. This collaboration addresses the challenges of scaling quantum systems by linking smaller quantum processing units (QPUs) to form larger, more powerful networks.

QphoX’s quantum transduction technology converts quantum signals between microwave and optical domains, bridging the gap between superconducting qubits and optical communication systems. Welinq’s quantum link solution, which includes neutral-atom quantum memories and a distributed quantum algorithm compiler, enables efficient synchronization and communication between QPUs. Together, these technologies provide a scalable approach to modular quantum computing.

The partnership strengthens Europe’s position in quantum technology, supporting the continent’s ambitions to lead in this transformative field. Both companies are supported by the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator and contribute to initiatives like the Quantum Internet Alliance.
