Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and Quantinuum have entered a partnership to advance quantum computing research in Qatar. The collaboration enables HBKU’s Qatar Center for Quantum Computing (QC2) to access Quantinuum’s quantum computing systems via cloud-based services. QC2 will leverage this resource to explore quantum applications in quantum chemistry, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, emphasizing challenges specific to both local and global contexts.
The initiative is designed to build research expertise at QC2 and deepen the center’s capabilities in quantum software and hardware. Through this arrangement, QC2 researchers will have access to Quantinuum’s high-performance quantum technology for both theoretical studies and practical applications in key scientific and industrial sectors.
The collaboration aligns with Quantinuum’s broader efforts to establish partnerships with leading research institutions worldwide, such as recent agreements with Singapore’s National Quantum Office and the UK’s STFC Hartree Center. Quantinuum CEO Dr. Rajeeb Hazra underscored the synergy between HBKU’s strengths in materials science and AI and Quantinuum’s full-stack quantum technology approach.
