IBM, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and the Government of Andhra Pradesh have unveiled a plan to establish India’s most advanced quantum computing facility in Amaravati. Anchored by IBM’s Quantum System Two with a 156-qubit Heron processor, this installation will be the centerpiece of the new Quantum Valley Tech Park—positioned to be India’s premier hub for quantum research, application development, and industry-academic collaboration. TCS will co-lead efforts to build quantum algorithms and hybrid computing applications aligned with India’s National Quantum Mission.
Complementing IBM’s infrastructure, TCS will develop use cases across critical sectors including life sciences, manufacturing, cryptography, and energy systems. Quantum Valley is designed to give researchers and companies access to IBM’s cloud-based quantum systems during development, with the on-site Heron-based system coming online post-construction. These capabilities aim to foster new quantum applications that deliver real-world quantum advantage.
According to the latest announcement, Andhra Pradesh will officially dedicate the Quantum Valley Tech Park to the nation on January 1, 2026, marking a national milestone. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the park’s role in reshaping India’s technological landscape, likening it to Andhra’s historic role in pioneering IT development. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has joined IBM and TCS as a core infrastructure partner. The park will be developed with a dual-track plan—simultaneously constructing the quantum facility and an innovation ecosystem to nurture startups and academic research. Committees will be formed to fast-track infrastructure and ecosystem buildout.
