As part of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is launching Quantum for Good, a dedicated track at the AI for Good Global Summit, taking place July 8–11, 2025, in Geneva. This initiative marks a pivotal step in aligning quantum innovation with equitable global development and sustainability goals.

Quantum for Good aims to steer the second quantum revolution toward applications with tangible benefits for humanity, prioritizing inclusion, ethics, and accessibility. The track will bring together leading voices from industry, academia, and international institutions to explore real-world use cases, promote standards for responsible innovation, and foster cross-sector partnerships.

Among the sessions is “Quantum for Good: Industry Leadership, Innovation, and Real-World Impact” on July 8, which will feature representatives from Microsoft, IBM, the United Nations, ID Quantique, Quantum Delta, TII, and others. Discussions will span the state of quantum across sectors including sensing, communications, climate, and post-quantum cryptography. Other sessions will address the role of international diplomacy, workforce development, and ethical governance in quantum deployment.

This programming reflects a larger ITU effort to proactively coordinate quantum development and avoid the inequities witnessed during prior technological revolutions. By focusing on open access, global capacity-building, and real-world utility, Quantum for Good signals a long-term commitment to ensuring that the emerging quantum ecosystem benefits all.
