BTQ Technologies has acquired Radical Semiconductor’s technology portfolio, including its innovative CASH cryptographic accelerator, which utilizes processing-in-memory technology. This acquisition enhances BTQ’s position in post-quantum cryptography, a critical area as quantum computing evolves to potentially break current encryption standards.

Radical’s technology supports emerging cryptographic algorithms and is designed to secure billions of devices against quantum threats. The integration of Radical’s solutions will accelerate BTQ’s efforts to develop scalable, quantum-secure communications for sectors like IoT, financial services, and government.

BTQ’s leadership views this acquisition as a key step in advancing quantum-secure infrastructure, while Radical’s founders emphasized the potential to protect critical infrastructure at scale. This acquisition comes as global cryptography standards are shifting toward post-quantum solutions, with the first set of post-quantum algorithms finalized by NIST in August. BTQ has developed a proprietary quantum signature algorithm called Preon which they have submitted to NIST for evaluation. This algorithm is currently in Round 1 of the evaluation stage and NIST is expected to announce soon which of the 40 additional digital signature algorithms that were submitted will make it to Round 2.
