The companies will research using Quandela's photonic quantum computers to perform numerical simulations of hydroelectric dam deformation. The goal is the improve the accuracy and speed of these calculations while reducing energy consumption. This will leverage Quandela's expertise in using quantum approaches to solve differential equations and developing algorithms. eleQtron, based in Siegen, Germany, is developing an ion trap quantum processor based upon a concept they call MAGIC (Magnetic Gradient Induced Coupling). They received some additional funding from venture organizations Earlybird and Siegerlandfonds. Breakthrough Victoria is a funding agency for the Australian state of Victoria that funds R&D. The funds provided to ColdQuanta will be used to establish the ColdQuanta-Swinburne Quantum Technology Centre at Swinburne University in Melbourne. PsiQuantum Receives a $22.5 Million Contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory

PsiQuantum will work with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to co-develop quantum photonic chips that will be manufactured at GlobalFoundries' semiconductor fab in Malta, N.Y. French start-up Quandela announced that it will use the Information Technology Laboratory of the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA-Leti) to manufacture its photonic chips to help provide them with a more controllable domestic supply chain. The funding is being provided to QuantrolOx by the European Innovation Council which is providing the funds as an upfront grant of €2.5 million ($2.4M USD) and an additional €8 million ($7.8M USD) as a matching equity investment when the QuantrolOx receives an equivalent investment from an outside source.
