Aliro Launches AliroNet Quickstart for Entanglement-Based Quantum Networking

2025-07-04T10:55:16-07:00

Aliro has introduced AliroNet Quickstart, a new bundled product designed to facilitate the deployment of entanglement-based quantum networks. The package includes hardware for quantum network implementation and software for orchestration, control, and data operation. It aims to support applications such as entanglement-based key distribution, connecting quantum processors, and linking distributed quantum sensors. AliroNet Quickstart addresses the security challenges posed by quantum computing, offering an alternative to conventional encryption by eliminating public key exchanges. The system generates shared keys through entanglement, providing a quantum-safe approach to securing data, voice, and video transmission. It also supports a layered defense strategy by integrating with [...]

Canada’s Quantum Leap: A Call to G7 Leadership

2025-07-04T10:55:17-07:00

by Joe Spencer The International Council of Quantum Industry Associations (ICQIA) is urging Canada to prioritize quantum technologies during its 2025 G7 Presidency, seeing it as a pivotal opportunity to solidify global leadership in this transformative field. Why is this Important? Quantum technologies are essential for economic prosperity and national security. The ICQIA highlights that other G7 nations and security alliances are rapidly increasing their focus and investments in this area, such as NATO with it’s billion dollar innovation fund and the AUKUS Framework. 2025 is a landmark year for quantum. The UN has declared it the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, [...]

Qunova Computing Achieves ‘Chemical Accuracy’ in Quantum Chemistry Simulations with Innovative Hardware-Agnostic Algorithm on NISQ Devices

2025-07-04T10:55:18-07:00

Qunova Computing, a quantum software company, has achieved a significant milestone by reaching ‘chemical accuracy’ in quantum chemistry simulations on commercially available quantum computers. This was demonstrated through tests on multiple quantum machines, including IQM’s 20-qubit system, IBM’s 24-qubit Quantum Eagle processor, and AQT’s IBEX Q1 ion-based machine, marking the first time chemical accuracy has been achieved on NISQ (Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum) devices. Qunova’s new “HI-VQE” (Handover Iteration VQE) algorithm, which significantly reduces the computational resources required by 1,000 times compared to traditional methods, was crucial in this achievement. The algorithm was successfully applied to molecules like lithium sulfide, hydrogen sulfide, [...]

NATO’s Quantum-Safe Future Transition

2025-07-04T10:55:18-07:00

by Amara Graps In January 2024,  NATO presented ( Press Announcement | Text of Strategy Details) its first-ever Quantum Strategy.   A Jewel Buried Deeply Buried inside of nineteen policy statements that describe the organization’s goals for quantum technology in general terms, are five surprisingly, specific, references to Post-Quantum Cryptography.  And buried inside of one set of bullet points, for the general item #4, is the most surprising bullet point of all: NATO has identified, understood and capitalised on evolving quantum technologies advancements, including with enabling technologies and in convergence with other EDTs; NATO has a Transatlantic Quantum Community to strategically engage [...]

Zapata AI Ceases Operations

2025-07-04T10:55:19-07:00

Zapata AI, one of the pioneering startups in the quantum software market, has ceased operations as of October 9, 2024. The sudden terminations appears to have been precipitated by an acceleration of payment of about $2.5 million that the company owed to Sandia Investment Management LP. Originally, this payment was not due until a Valuation Date of March 28, 2026, but the company received notice from Sandia that this date had been accelerated to October 8, 2024. So the company had to shut down and terminate almost all of the employees except for a handful that will be needed for a [...]

Google Quantum AI Achieves Twofold Increase in Quantum Circuit Volume with Random Circuit Sampling Benchmark

2025-07-04T10:55:20-07:00

Sketch of the phase diagram. The region labeled “weak noise” in green represents where quantum correlations extend to the full device, enabling beyond classical experiments. In the “strong noise” regime, the system may be approximately represented by the product of multiple uncorrelated subsystems, and the experiment might be spoofable by classical algorithms. The anti-concentration phase transition separates the regimes of a concentrated distribution of output bitstrings and a broad (or anti-concentrated) distribution. In the experiment they identified this transition for noisy RCS circuits. Imaginary Missile with imaginary CFD streamlines. by Amara Graps Some of the most visible work by NATO these months are preparations by Eastern Flank countries to build multilayered defenses for what dozens of seasoned military analysts claim will be inevitable attacks on our territories. Then too, there is the less visible work by NATO. One example:  enhancing military detection and tracking systems.  There’s a lot of work being done right now on the wakes and the plumes left by hypersonic weapons […]  -- Masao Dahlgren (CSIS) Computational Fluid Dynamics tools have an important place inside of defense preparations to enhance [...]

IBM Releases Preview of their AI-Based Qiskit Code Assistant to their Premium Customers

2025-07-04T10:55:21-07:00

When IBM announced version 1.0 of Qiskit last May, they also mentioned that they were developing a Qiskit Code Assistant service with a Visual Studio code extension that will help customer generate code for their Qiskit programs. This tool is a generative AI assistant that has been trained on millions of text tokens of Qiskit code examples created over the years. It uses IBM's Granite Code large language model (LLM) and IBM's watsonx AI platform to help automate the code process so that users can generate high-quality Qiskit code with more productivity, at a more abstract interface level, and obtain more [...]

To an extent to be a priority.  From the Rolls-Royce Holdings company’s history, no one should be surprised that there is a team of quantum experts at this company. When the British government bailed out Rolls-Royce Holdings, after the RB211-22 jet engine project bankrupted the company fifty years ago, it was innovation that enabled this company to recover. One of the customers I really appreciate is Rolls-Royce. The Rolls-Royce team is [...]
