ColibriTD has launched QUICK-PDE, a quantum-classical hybrid solver for partial differential equations (PDEs), now available through the IBM Qiskit Functions Catalog. Built on the company’s H-DES (Hybrid Differential Equation Solver) algorithm, QUICK-PDE enables developers and researchers to solve domain-specific multiphysics PDEs by leveraging IBM’s utility-scale quantum systems via cloud access.
The tool supports quantum-assisted simulation of key physics scenarios, including the inviscid Burgers’ equation, used in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to model shockwave behavior in aerospace and automotive engineering, and hypoelastic mechanical deformation in 1D, relevant for stress-strain modeling in manufacturing and materials science. These are executed as Variational Quantum Algorithms, integrating classical and quantum resources for efficient problem-solving.
QUICK-PDE is intended for users seeking to augment industrial simulation workflows with quantum acceleration. Access to the solver is currently offered to users of the IBM Quantum Premium Plan, and ColibriTD plans to expand functionality to cover additional physics domains and higher-dimensional systems in future H-DES releases.
