The German Aerospace Center’s DLR Quantum Computing Initiative (DLR QCI) has selected IQM Quantum Computers to develop quantum embedding algorithms for materials science simulations. The project, part of DLR QCI’s QuantiCoM initiative, is scheduled for completion by 2026 and aims to expand quantum computing applications in solid-state physics and quantum chemistry.
IQM will focus on embedding techniques, which simplify large material systems by creating smaller, effective models that retain the essential physics. These models are more manageable for quantum computers yet remain challenging for classical methods. This approach supports the simulation of strongly correlated systems, which are critical for advancing material science and industrial applications.
The algorithms will be tested on IQM Resonance, a quantum cloud platform, ensuring integration with existing quantum resources. DLR QCI, launched in 2021, continues to strengthen Germany’s quantum ecosystem through projects like QuantiCoM, emphasizing quantum advancements in engineering and material science.
This collaboration highlights IQM’s expertise in quantum solutions and its commitment to driving quantum research forward. It also reinforces DLR QCI’s role in fostering quantum technologies for aerospace and beyond.
