HENSOLDT, a leading sensor solutions provider, has been awarded a contract under the DLR Quantum Computing Initiative (DLR QCI) for the QUA-SAR research project. The initiative, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, aims to optimize complex radar remote sensing scenarios using quantum computing. Collaborating with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and Tensor AI Solutions GmbH, HENSOLDT seeks to address challenges in radar resource management, particularly in dynamic, multi-sensor environments.
Future radar systems will rely on multi-platform networks, requiring real-time task distribution that conventional computers struggle to handle. Quantum computing offers a potential solution, enabling faster and more efficient decision-making. This project aligns with HENSOLDT’s ‘Quantum Sensing and Technologies’ initiative, launched in 2024, to advance its expertise in quantum technologies.
HENSOLDT CEO Oliver Dörre emphasized the importance of quantum computing in the company’s Software-Defined Defence strategy, highlighting its role in digitizing and networking sensor systems.
