IonQ has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), aiming to integrate IonQ’s quantum computing systems into South Korea’s high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure. The agreement outlines collaboration in four key areas: infrastructure integration, education and workforce development, joint research, and market opportunity expansion. IonQ’s systems are expected to complement KISTI’s national HPC assets to support research and industrial use cases.
This MoU builds on previous collaborations between the two organizations and aligns with South Korea’s broader national quantum strategy. Joint initiatives under the agreement will include internships, training programs, and potential deployment of IonQ quantum systems at KISTI. These efforts are intended to accelerate local quantum capabilities and contribute to building a skilled quantum workforce.
IonQ’s engagement with South Korea also includes MoUs with SK Telecom, Busan Metropolitan City, and Intellian Technologies, as well as partnerships with leading universities. The new MoU is part of a coordinated approach to support South Korea’s goal of becoming one of the top global quantum economies by 2035.
