IonQ and South Carolina Quantum (SCQ) have announced the Faculty & Researcher Learning Series, aiming to introduce quantum technologies to academia. This initiative, part of an agreement to accelerate quantum technology adoption in South Carolina, will provide free sessions to faculty and researchers, starting at Clemson University on June 11, 2024.

The Learning Series will cover quantum basics, industry applications, technical presentations, and guidance on accessing quantum resources and funding. Participants will gain access to IonQ’s quantum systems and training on incorporating quantum computing into research and curricula.

Peter Chapman, President and CEO of IonQ, highlighted the significance of the initiative in developing a quantum-ready workforce. Joe Queenan, Executive Director of SCQ, emphasized the collaboration’s role in fostering innovation and attracting quantum talent to South Carolina. Dan Noneaker, Associate Dean for Research at Clemson University, expressed enthusiasm for hosting the inaugural session, noting quantum computing’s transformative potential.
