Quantum computing platform and foundry operator IonQ (NYSE: IONQ) has executed a multi-year strategic partnership with South Korean quantum technology and software firm SDT, Inc. The agreement expands the companies’ relationship from software integration to physical hardware manufacturing, system assembly, and regional commercial distribution across the Asia-Pacific region.
Under the terms of the collaboration, IonQ will supply a Superion 256 trapped-ion quantum computer alongside its silicon-vacancy (SiV) quantum memory module for deployment with an SDT end-user in South Korea. The hardware will serve as the core of a hybrid quantum-classical data center. Concurrently, SDT plans to establish a dedicated quantum manufacturing and integration facility in Gumi, South Korea, which will operate as a regional assembly and packaging hub for IonQ’s SiV quantum memory modules and full-stack quantum platforms.

The agreement strengthens IonQ’s presence in South Korea, where it maintains existing collaborations with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), SK Telecom, Hyundai Motor Company, Seoul National University, and Sungkyunkwan University. Beyond data center operations, IonQ and SDT will deploy hybrid quantum infrastructure supporting a dedicated domestic cancer center project to accelerate biomedical and pharmaceutical research.
