Montana State University (MSU) has chosen ORCA Computing to provide two PT-1 quantum photonics systems, enhancing its distributed quantum computing and communication capabilities. Funded by the U.S. Air Force’s Applied Quantum CORE grant, these systems will be installed at the MSU Innovation Campus within the INDUSTRY Bozeman building. The initiative aims to accelerate the development and market deployment of quantum technology applications in security, communications, sensing, and computing.
Prof. Yves Idzerda, Dean of the College of Letters and Science at MSU, called the installation a milestone for the university. Prof. Krishna Rupavatharam, Director of Spectrum Lab at MSU, emphasized that access to photonic quantum computing technologies will expedite the university’s quantum research and development efforts.
Richard Murray, PhD, Co-founder and CEO of ORCA Computing, praised MSU’s infrastructure and expertise, noting that the PT-1 systems are well-suited to support MSU’s ambitious quantum projects. This deployment continues ORCA’s momentum in providing PT Series units to prestigious clients, including the UK Ministry of Defence and the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center, along with initiatives for government and enterprise clients in various sectors.
