The National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC) has announced a $13 million AUD ($8.3M USD) equity investment in Quantum Brilliance (QB), a leader in diamond quantum technology. This funding will establish Australia’s first quantum diamond foundry, advancing the design and fabrication of quantum diamond devices essential for quantum computing, sensing, and networking.

Key Points of the Initiative:

  • Purpose: The foundry will enable the mass production of diamond quantum devices, supporting applications that are small, lightweight, energy-efficient, and operable at room temperature.
  • Collaborations: The foundry builds upon QB’s partnerships with Australian universities, such as the Australian National University, La Trobe University, and RMIT University, leveraging over two decades of research leadership in diamond quantum technologies.
  • Impact: The investment aims to create highly skilled jobs, bolster Australia’s quantum industry capabilities, and position the nation as a global leader in quantum diamond technologies.

Quantum Brilliance’s technology is already integrated into international supercomputing facilities and supports diverse applications, including those in harsh environments. The NRFC’s funding, part of QB’s Series A round, underscores its role in supporting early-stage Australian businesses to attract additional private investment and scale operations.
