Pasqal has inaugurated its first North American quantum processor factory in Sherbrooke, Québec, and completed the sale of a 100-qubit neutral-atom quantum processing unit (QPU) to Distriq, Quantum Innovation Zone. The factory and system sale mark major steps in Pasqal’s global industrialization strategy and strengthen Québec’s position as a key player in the international quantum computing landscape.

The new facility, located in the 50,000-square-foot Espace Quantique 1 building, will manufacture next-generation QPUs and serve growing North American demand. Pasqal first announced its Canadian expansion in 2023, backed by a $15 million loan from Investissement Québec. With this opening, Pasqal becomes one of the most advanced quantum computing hardware vendors operating in Canada, joining a growing cluster of industrial and research activity in Sherbrooke.

The 100-qubit QPU acquired by Distriq will be fully produced and installed at the new Sherbrooke site, making high-performance quantum computing directly accessible to Canadian research institutions and industries. It is expected to be operational by this coming Fall. The acquisition was financed by a public-private funding package, including a $9.6 million loan from the Québec Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Energy (MEIE) and Investissement Québec, $2.4 million from the National Bank of Canada, and $1.2 million from Canada Economic Development for Québec Regions (CED).
