Quandela, a leader in photonic quantum computing, and Welinq, a pioneer in quantum networking, have announced a strategic partnership aimed at advancing quantum computing technologies. This collaboration merges Quandela’s expertise in photonic quantum processors with Welinq’s state-of-the-art quantum interconnect technology, specifically designed to create tailored quantum links for photonic quantum computers. The partnership aims to set new standards in the industry and facilitate the development of interconnected and error-corrected photonic quantum computer clusters.
Photonic Quantum Processing Units (QPUs), such as those developed by Quandela, leverage photons for high-speed data transmission with minimal interference, offering scalability and efficiency. However, achieving practical quantum computing requires robust error correction capabilities, which is where Welinq’s quantum interconnects play a pivotal role. These interconnects, based on laser-cooled neutral atom quantum memories, ensure high fidelity and low latency transmission of quantum information between multiple QPUs, enhancing computational power and scalability.
Niccolo Somaschi, CEO and co-founder of Quandela, emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership in scaling photonic quantum computing and enabling the full potential of networked quantum computers. Tom Darras, CEO and co-founder of Welinq, highlighted the compatibility of their interconnect technology with diverse QPU architectures, underscoring their commitment to advancing quantum networking capabilities.
A press release announcing this collaboration has been posted on the Quandela website here.
