The Quantum-Safe 360 Alliance, with members Keyfactor, IBM Consulting, Thales, and Quantinuum, has unveiled its first white paper to guide organizations through the transition to Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC). The paper, titled “Digital Trust & Cybersecurity in the Era of Quantum Computing,” marks the formal debut of the alliance, which aims to provide coordinated guidance and accelerate preparedness for the quantum era.
The alliance was formed to address the challenges of PQC transitions by combining resources and knowledge from its members. The white paper outlines a strategic roadmap for enterprises to adopt cryptographic agility and best practices for implementing a quantum-safe infrastructure. Each member contributes specific expertise: Keyfactor in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and certificate management, IBM Consulting in PQC migration, Thales in cryptographic hardware and key management, and Quantinuum in quantum-generated randomness for key generation.
The alliance operates on the principle that a single solution is insufficient for a successful PQC transition and that collaboration is necessary. The white paper highlights the urgency of quantum-safe preparedness and the risks of inaction, addressing topics such as cryptographic agility to adapt to evolving threats and strategies for securing internal buy-in for PQC. The initiative signals a coordinated effort to provide clear guidance and interoperable solutions to help enterprises adapt to the quantum era.
