QuEra Computing has announced the addition of local qubit control, also known as local detuning, to its 256-qubit quantum computer, Aquila. This new capability enhances the flexibility and programmability of Aquila, allowing users to independently control and manipulate qubits. Aquila’s users now have more versatility when addressing problems in areas such as machine learning, optimization, and simulation. The local detuning feature opens up the potential for a broader range of input data and problem types by enabling the individual preparation of qubit states. Two other new capabilities that are also now available include taller geometries with increased lattice height, and tighter geometries with smaller vertical spacing.
This advancement could prove particularly valuable in fields such as pharmaceuticals, where modeling protein folding and molecular binding can benefit from QuEra’s technology. QuEra’s Aquila is now available with local detuning and the other two new features through Amazon Braket.
