Qubit Quality

2024-08-30T14:47:05-07:00

At recent quantum technical conferences, it has been emphasized that qubit quality is a very important factor in creating a viable quantum computer.  So kudos to IBM, Rigetti, IonQ, Google and QuTech for documenting the specifications of their respective chips. However, the companies are using different formats making it difficult to compare qubit quality so we decided to put them into a common format.  These parameters are shown below in the three tables below.   Table 1 shows the qubit count, qubit connectivity, T1 and T2 or T2* times.   Table 2 shows the single qubit gate fidelity, the two-qubit gate [...]

Qubit Count

2024-08-30T14:03:16-07:00

There have been a lot of announcements recently regarding new chips or new simulators that contain a record of qubit count.   We thought it would be useful to our readers to compile all the information into one handy qubit count table that you can see below. Note that the data shown for the hardware items are for physical qubits without any error correction. As we see more announcements in the coming months, you should remember that not all qubits are created equal.  A design that has qubits with long coherence times, high gate fidelities, and large connectivities may provide far better results [...]

Private/Startup Companies

2024-04-10T10:16:05-07:00

The following is a list of startup or private companies working on Quantum Computing and Quantum Communications.  It does not include quantum sensing companies, component companies that sell to multiple markets besides quantum computing companies, and companies that simulate chemical reactions on classical computers (sometimes these companies will call themselves quantum-inspired.) This table can be sorted by Company Name, Country, or Segment.  The definition for each of the segments is shown after the end of the table.  You can also includes a Search function that allows you to find all entries that contain the keyword entered into the search box.  Any [...]
