Quminex, a Canadian startup focused on quantum-AI-powered mineral exploration, has secured pre-seed investments from QV Studio, Quantacet, and Quantonation. The funding will support technology development and company growth, with Quminex emerging as one of the first portfolio companies under QV Studio’s program at Distriq in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The investors cited Quminex’s combination of deep quantum computing and geoscience expertise as a catalyst for innovation in sustainable resource discovery.
Alongside the funding announcement, Quminex was selected as a Top Innovator in the Quantum for Society Challenge organized by the World Economic Forum’s UpLink platform. The challenge targets scalable quantum solutions aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with application areas including climate, healthcare, manufacturing, and materials. Quminex’s platform integrates quantum computing and AI to analyze complex geoscience datasets, aiming to improve the efficiency and environmental sustainability of critical mineral exploration.
Quminex was chosen from 100 applicants, advancing through a final round of 23 teams. As a Top Innovator, the company will participate in a three-year engagement program offering access to high-profile events and international collaboration. Its platform addresses mineral supply security by identifying new ore deposits more reliably and efficiently using advanced modeling and optimization tools enabled by quantum-classical methods.
