The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) along with industrial, academic, and professional society partners Amazon Web Services (AWS), Boeing Co, Google, IBM, Lockheed Martin, Montana Instruments, Microsoft Corp, Rigetti, Zapata, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Chicago, APS, IEEE, OSA, and SPIE have created the National Q-12 Education Partnership with the aim to support and grow a quantum workforce that is diverse and equitable. The unique aspect of this program is that it is focused on providing quantum education to middle and high school students (K-12) rather than those at universities.  Activities will include developing educational materials, providing tools for hands-on experiences, and supporting pathways to quantum careers. The NSF will be providing almost $1 million in funding to support this program.
