Chris Bates has joined SandboxAQ as their first Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). He joined the company from Sentinel One where he was the Chief Security & Trust Office where he was responsible for all security aspects among many other things. Previous to that he held positions at Nike, Fidelis Cybersecurity (General Dynamics), NuScale Power, and ACS (Xerox), and consulted for RSA (EMC). At SandboxAQ he will be responsible for the ensuring the security of the company’s data, communications, and intellictual property and also to help advance the company’s AQtive Guard cryptography platform with SandboxAQ’s client base. Photonic Inc. has significantly expanded its management team this year by bringing in Dr. Chantal Arena as VP of Research, Development, & Production for Devices., Dr. Klaus Schuegraf as VP of Research, Development, & Production for Systems, and Jessica Hodgson as VP, People. Also Alison Berg has been named Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) moving from her previous role as VP, People & Communications. Dr. Arena joins Photonic from Lawrence Semiconductors where she was the Co-chief Executive and Technical Officer. Prior to that she held positions at Array Photonics, Photonitride Devices, SOITEC, GaNoTec, ASM, and TEL. Dr. Schuegraf joins the company from PsiQuantum where he was the Senior Vice President of Systems Engineering. Before that he held senior positions at Intel, Cymer, Applied Materials, SanDisk, Cypress Semiconductor and other technology companies. Ms. Hodgson is an experienced HR professional who previously was Managing Partner at Moonshot Associates that provided fractional leadership and consulting services to SMBs. Before that she has experience at KPMG Canada, CIBC, Accenture, and other organizations. And Ms. Berg was an original executive team member at Photonic, serving since 2021 as VP People & Communications. As CMO she will be working to strengthen the Photonic brand and the company’s positioning. She has previous experience at West10 Marketing and Communications, SFU Venture Labs, Cray Canada, Redback Networks, and other organizations. Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) has recruited Michelle Tsang to be their Chief Financial and Operating Officer (CFOO) where she will use her experience to help the company scale, launch new products, define organizational structure, and develop strategy. Ms. Tsang previously was with Touch Surgery where she was the Chief Finance and Operations Officer. Before that she served in a number of finance related positions at organizations including Connected World Services (part of Dixons Carphone Group), Credit Suisse First Boston, SBC Warburg, and other companies. IonQ has appointed Peter Chapman as their next Chairman of their Board of Directors effective June 5, 2024 and Harry You as the Lead Independent Director. Mr. Chapman has been the CEO of IonQ since May 2019 and will retain that position. Before that he spent several years at Amazon as Director of Engineering for Amazon Prime and before that held other executive positions at several other technology companies. He will success Craig Barratt who is the current Chairman of the Board at IonQ. Mr. You is Chairman of the dMY Technology Group, whose special acquisition company dMY III merged with IonQ to make it a public company. He has previously worked with Accenture, EMC, Oracle, and Broadcom and has served as an IonQ director since September 2021. Quantum Computing Inc. (QCI) has appointed Dr. Javad Shabani to their Board of Directors. Dr. Shabani is an Associate Professor of Physics and Director of the Center for Quantum Information Physics at New York University. He has great expertise in fundamental quantum materials and condensed matter physics and has published over 85 papers on these topics. Q-CTRL has announced that Vince McBeth has joined the company as the Principal Business Development & Government Engagement (US/UK). He will be focusing on promoting Q-CTRL’s new class of “software-defined” quantum sensors to potential users in the U.S. and U.K. defense sectors. He joined Q-CTRL from Gartner where he was a partner. And before that he has considerable experience in the U.S. government and defense organizations serviing as Special Assistant (Strategy) to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Special Counsel to the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO), Special Assistant to the Vice Chief of Naval Operations for National Security Programs, White House Fellow to the President of the United States, Administrative Aide and Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Navy, and several commanding roles in the U.S. Navy. ImpaQT UA, a consortium started by quantum technology companies based in Delft, Netherlands, has appointed Andrea G. Rodriguez to the position of Lead. She will help ImpaQT UA lower the barriers to entry for quantum technology start-ups by helping to advance seamless integration between the components and services of its member companies. Previously she was a Lead Digital Policy Analyst with the European Policy Centre and was a researcher and policy analyst at several other European organizations including CIDOB, Barcelona Centre for International Affairs.
