Diraq is Partnering with GlobalFoundries for Integrated CMOS/Qubits Logic on the Same Chip and Achieves Record Spin Qubit Gate Fidelities at 1 Kelvin for Test Chips Fabricated at Imec

2024-12-28T14:44:41-08:00

In a new work being presented at the IEEE 2024 IEEE Silicon Nanoelectronics Workshop this month, Diraq has achieved record fidelity for spin qubits fabricated on a 300 mm wafer by imec. They have seen single qubit gate fidelities of 99.9%. In previous work published in Nature Magazine they have also demonstrated high fidelities when operating a 1 Kelvin. Operation at the 1 Kelvin rather than 10 or 15 millikelvin temperatures is important due to Diraq's strategy of creating chips with a large number of qubits. Dilution refrigerators like those used in superconducting designs have a relatively small cooling power and cost hundreds [...]

United Nations Declares 2025 as International Year of Quantum Science and Technology

2024-12-28T14:44:43-08:00

On June 7, 2024, the United Nations proclaimed 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ). This initiative aims to increase public awareness of quantum science and its applications. The year 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the development of quantum mechanics, a milestone supported by numerous national scientific societies and international unions. The proposal for IYQ was led by Mexico and endorsed by UNESCO's Executive Board in May 2023, followed by UNESCO General Conference approval in November 2023, co-sponsored by nearly 60 countries. In May 2024, Ghana formally submitted a draft resolution to the U.N. General Assembly, [...]
