Alice & Bob Partners with Atos Subsidiary Eviden

2024-04-06T15:49:56-07:00

French quantum hardware startup Alice & Bob has announced it is partnering with Atos subsidiary Eviden to provide emulation capabilities of the Alice & Bob hardware on Eviden's Qaptiva platform. This will allow end users to start gaining experience with Alice & Bob's architecture that utilizes what are known as "cat" qubits. This architecture greatly reduces the presence of bit-flip errors so that users only need to be concerned about phase-flip errors. This would significantly reduce the complexity of error correction codes needed and could reduce the number of physical qubits needed to create a logical error corrected qubits by an [...]

Alice & Bob Selects Quantum Machines OPX+ Quantum Control Platform

2023-12-14T17:40:10-08:00

Alice & Bob is a French quantum processor startup that is pursuing a superconducting based quantum computer that uses a different type of qubit called a cat qubit. The potential advantage of this approach is that it may be able to eliminate one type of common error in a quantum computer called a Bit Flip. Although there is a second type of error still present called a Phase Flip, if a design doesn't have to be concerned about Bit Flips it can simplify an quantum error correction algorithm and significantly reduce the number of physical qubits to form one logical qubit. [...]

Alice & Bob Raise €27 Million ($29.7M USD) in Series A Funding

2023-05-09T13:10:26-07:00

The funding was led by Elaia, BpiFrance Digital Venture Fund and Supernova Invest with additional participation from Breega. Alice & Bob is a quantum startup located in Paris, France that is developing a fault tolerant quantum computer based upon a superconducting cat qubit approach. They have also announced that their technology has reduced the prevalence of bit-flip errors by a factor of tens of thousands. They indicated that their technology has increased the time between bit-flips from a few milliseconds to 2 minutes. This could be a major advantage for implementing error correction code in the Alice & Bob processors because [...]

Alice & Bob Raises €100M ($104.9M USD) Series B to Accelerate Cat Qubit-Based Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computing

2025-01-28T12:01:01-08:00

Alice & Bob, a company developing fault-tolerant quantum computers, announced the closure of a €100 million ($104.9 million USD) Series B funding round, led by Future French Champions (FFC), AVP, and Bpifrance. The funding aims to advance Alice & Bob’s mission of building the world’s first useful quantum computer by 2030. Alice & Bob’s proprietary “cat qubit” technology suppresses bit-flip errors, enabling scalable quantum computing with significantly reduced hardware requirements. This innovation allows the company to achieve fault tolerance with only thousands of qubits instead of the millions needed by other approaches. Funds will support the development of the first error-corrected [...]
