Alice & Bob Integrates CUDA-Q to Accelerate GPU-Based Quantum System Simulation

2025-06-11T13:08:32-07:00

Alice & Bob has integrated NVIDIA’s CUDA-Q quantum development platform into its open-source Dynamiqs simulation library. CUDA-Q provides hybrid quantum–classical computing capabilities, while Dynamiqs is optimized for GPU acceleration to simulate time-dependent quantum systems. Early benchmarks show the combined toolchain can achieve up to 75x speed improvements over conventional simulation frameworks when modeling large-scale quantum dynamics. The integration allows Dynamiqs to simulate complex, rapidly evolving quantum processors more efficiently. By offloading tasks to GPUs, researchers can perform large-scale simulations and parameter sweeps across diverse conditions, significantly reducing compute time. Alice & Bob’s development team collaborated with NVIDIA to create APIs that [...]

Alice & Bob Enhances Quantum Error Correction with Squeezed Cat Qubits

2025-03-11T17:52:59-07:00

Alice & Bob, a leader in fault-tolerant quantum computing, has announced a significant advancement in cat qubit technology, achieving a 160x improvement in bit-flip error protection through a technique called “squeezing.” This innovation, detailed in a recent preprint, optimizes error suppression by compressing the quantum state of cat qubits, reducing the need for resource-intensive error correction. Cat qubits, a type of superconducting qubit, are designed to minimize bit-flip errors by increasing the separation between quantum states. However, this typically comes at the cost of increased phase-flip errors. By squeezing cat qubits, Alice & Bob has demonstrated a method to enhance bit-flip protection without compromising phase-flip performance. In experiments, squeezed cat [...]

Alice & Bob and Partners Receive a €16.5 Million ($17.8M USD) Grant to Develop a 100 Logical Qubit Processor by 2027

2024-12-28T14:40:39-08:00

The grant was provided by Bpifrance on behalf of the French government as part of the France 2030 initiative. Alice & Bob's partners in this effort include academic partners ENS de Lyon and Mines Paris - PSL. The project, named Cat Factory, will use Alice & Bob's Cat qubit technology which we recently described here which combines a base Cat qubit which virtually eliminates bit flips with an LDPC code to create a much more efficient implementation. To achieve 100 logical qubits, this projects intends to use just 1500 physical qubits that will be fitted into a large dilution refrigerator and [...]

Classiq and Alice & Bob Team to Create a Logical Qubit Emulator for Cat Qubits

2024-12-28T14:41:00-08:00

Quantum software company Classiq and Alice & Bob, a company working on a fault-tolerant quantum computer, have announced a partnership to bridge the gap between quantum software and hardware. The collaboration will enhance the Classiq platform with Alice & Bob’s cat qubit technology and tooling for logical qubits. Classiq’s platform will expand to include an early-access program to the first logical qubit emulator, capable of simulating logical qubits based on cat qubits. Alice & Bob is working to develop a quantum computer with 100 logical qubits that have a 10-8 error rate and this will help researchers and developers get a [...]

Alice & Bob Collaborates with Inria to Develop High Efficiency Error Correction Codes Using Cat Qubits and LDPC

2024-12-28T14:41:50-08:00

A very important ratio for fault tolerant quantum computers is the Physical-to-Logical ratio. The represents the number of physical qubits needed to implement a logical qubit. The lower this ratio is, the better because it makes it easier to implement in hardware, reduces the cost of the machine, and many other things. The problem is that with many of the quantum error correction codes that have been developed, the number is quite high. It could be 1000:1 or even higher. One of the reasons quantum error correction is harder than classical error correction is that many quantum processors can suffer from [...]

The chip is codenamed Helium 1 and contains 16 qubits to test out Alice & Bob's cat qubit architecture for achieving a very high fidelity logical qubit. The term "tape out" means that the company has finished the design and sent the design files to a fabrication facility for construction. After the chip has been built, it will undergo extensive testing, characterization, and calibration by the company's engineering team to realize the optimum performance and then made available for external use by the company's customers. Any lessons learned during this process will be utilized in the design of the next chip [...]
