UK Government Announces Five Quantum Missions as Part of Its National Quantum Strategy

2024-08-27T22:03:07-07:00

As part of the UK Government's 2023 Autumn Statement, they have released five key missions that provide more specific goals as a follow-on to the March 2023 release of the UK's National Quantum Strategy. The National Quantum Strategy called for an investment of £2.5 billion ($3.15B USD) in quantum over the next ten years and a portion of those funds will be utilized to achieve the technical missions outlined below. Mission 1By 2035, there will be accessible, UK-based quantum computers capable of running 1 trillion (error-free logical) operations and supporting applications that provide benefits well in excess of classical supercomputers across [...]

Government of Ireland Releases Its National Quantum Technologies Strategy

2024-08-27T22:03:08-07:00

Similar to efforts we have seen in many other countries, the government of Ireland has released a document titled Quantum 2030 - A National Quantum Technologies Strategy for Ireland with the tagline "Putting Ireland in a Quantum Superposition". Their goal is to ensure that by 2030 Ireland is established as an internationally competitive hub in quantum technologies. The strategy is based upon four pillars. The first four pillars deal building strong capabilities in research, talent, international collaborations, and innovation, entrepreneurship and economic competitiveness. And a five pillar will be to leverage those capabilities and build awareness of quantum technologies and real world [...]

SandboxAQ Partners with NVIDIA to Accelerate Simulations of Quantum Mechanical Effects for Material Science

2024-08-27T22:03:09-07:00

A key focus area where SandboxAQ has been applying their AI+Quantum (AQ) technology for some time is an area we call computational chemistry. This involves simulating the quantum mechanical effects of molecular structures to understand how they will react saving the need to empirically test it in the lab. The company has previously announced partnerships with NOVONIX and the University of San Francisco’s Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases to simulate battery chemistries and accelerate drug discovery respectively. SandoxAQ is now announcing that they will be collaborating with NVIDIA to use NVIDIA's GPUs to accelerate some of the tensor network based algorithms used in these [...]
